Physical: Sodalite, a beautiful stone coloured in royal blue, was discovered by Europeans in 1811. When vast deposits of fine material were discovered in Ontario, Canada, 80 years later, it began to be used more for ornamentation. Other well-known sources of sodalite include the US, Canada, Russia, Greenland and Namibia. Sodalite is still widely used as an ornamental gemstone, as it is quite brittle and has a softer Mohs Scale Hardness of 5.5-6.
Fun fact: Sodalite has been traced back to the Caral people near Lima, who used the stone for trading purposes in 2600-2000 BC!
Metaphysical: Assisting with the Third Eye and Throat Chakra, Sodalite is an excellent tool for intuition, creating stillness of the mind, and enhancing concentration. It brings balance to emotions while aiding in vocalization and expressing blocked energies. It is also great for generating insights as it clarifies the mind and strengthens one’s inner knowings.
