Physical: Mookaite Jasper is a colourful subtype of jasper that is absolutely stunning for jewellery, being a 6.5-7 hardness on the Mohs Scale. It was discovered on a 700,000 acre sheep farm - Mooka Station - in Western Australia in the mid 1960s. Nowadays, it is mined mainly around Mooka Creek. This stone is quite unique, with its spots of red, yellow and cream placed throughout each specimen.
Fun fact: The Aboriginal word “Mooka”, which the name Mookaite derives from, translates to “running waters”.
