Genuine Green Moldavite (Czech Tektite)

Product Overview

Moldavite is a rare, forest-green natural glass formed approximately 14.7 million years ago by a massive meteorite impact in southern Germany. This impact ejected molten terrestrial and extraterrestrial material into the atmosphere, which solidified and fell back to Earth as a "strewn field" in the Czech Republic. Prized by collectors as the only gemstone-quality tektite, it is famous for its intense vibration and its distinctively etched, aerodynamic surface.

Origin & Location

  • Source: Czech Republic (Bohemian & Moravian regions).

  • Mining Method: Hand-collected from sandy/gravelly sediments; ethically sourced.

Specifications

  • Material: Authentic Green Moldavite (Impact Glass).

  • Size Range: 0.5 inches to 1.5 inches.

  • Shape: Raw, natural irregular fragments with characteristic "sculptation."

  • Color Palette: Deep bottle green, olive green, and translucent forest green.

Key Features

  • Cosmic Heritage: Formed through the union of Earth and space material during a high-velocity impact event.

  • Unique Sculpting: Each piece features natural pocking and ridges (etching) caused by millions of years of exposure to natural soil acids.

  • Collector’s Grade: A high-vibration stone that is becoming increasingly scarce as primary deposits are depleted.

Important Notes

  • Authenticity: Guaranteed genuine. Look for the presence of "lechatelierite" (worm-like silica inclusions) and tiny internal gas bubbles under magnification.

  • Natural Form: As a raw, natural product, each piece is one-of-a-kind. Shape and texture will vary from the listing photos.

  • Care: With a Mohs hardness of 5.5–7, Moldavite is relatively fragile compared to quartz. Handle with care to avoid chipping.
